Jan. 13 last day for UW pledges

Members of the University community still have until Monday, Jan. 13, to turn in their pledge cards for Pitt's 1996 United Way campaign and have their contribution count as part of the University's giving total.

This year's goal is $435,000, about 5 percent over 1995's final total. To date, Pitt's 1996 United Way campaign has collected approximately $376,000. The amount is slightly behind last year's total of about $383,000 for the same point in the campaign.

Michelle Garraux, communications coordinator for the campaign and director of University Graphics and Printing, expressed hope that the campaign will pass the $400,000 mark. "There usually is a burst of contributions at the end of the campaign," Garraux noted. "We are optimistic that we will again exceed $400,000." While donations to the United Way can be made at any time, Garraux said that Monday is the official cut-off date for Pitt's 1996 campaign.

Pledge cards can be returned to Pitt's United Way campaign office, 500 Craig Hall.
