To the editor:

I am writing on behalf of Xi Chapter, Phi Beta Kappa, to direct your readers to an advertisement that appears in this issue (page 5), inviting students and faculty at the University of Pittsburgh to nominate members of the Class of 1998 for the annual Phi Beta Kappa Junior Prize. Phi Beta Kappa is the most prestigious national liberal arts honor society for undergraduates. Students who are eligible for nomination should have a minimum Q.P.A. of 3.5, at least two years of a foreign language at the college level, and have demonstrated, through successful completion of courses in the humanities, social sciences and natural sciences, a commitment to the ideals of a liberal arts education.
