Teaching conference is March 20

Pennsylvania Secretary of Education Eugene W. Hickok will be the keynote speaker at this year's Teaching Excellence conference on March 20 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Forbes Quadrangle. Hickok will speak at 2:30 p.m. in 2M56.

The conference, "Teaming Up for Learning," will feature lectures, workshops and panel discussions designed to improve teaching. In addition, representatives from the University Library System, The Book Center, Central Business Services and Cathedral Publishing will demonstrate and discuss equipment, materials and services available for teaching.

"This unique event is by and for the Pitt faculty, graduate teaching assistants and fellows, and staff who contribute every day to ensure excellence in teaching and learning for our students," Provost James Maher said.

The conference is sponsored by the University's Center for Instructional Development and Distance Education (CIDDE). Information is available from CIDDE at 624-6592.
