Search for Greensburg president is progressing

A total of 81 applications and nominations from throughout the country have been received for the presidency of Pitt's Greensburg campus (UPG). The deadline for submitting applications and nominations was March 1. The search committee, headed by Vice Provost for Academic Planning and Resources Management Robert Pack, currently is checking references on candidates it has judged suitable to move on to the next phase of the search.

"At the conclusion of that in about two weeks we should have identified a group of between six and eight candidates to invite to the Greensburg campus to meet with the campus community," said Joan Cutone, who is providing staff support for the search. "That is where we are right now." The committee plans to present a list of three unranked finalists to Provost James Maher by mid-May. An offer is expected to be made to one of the candidates by July 1, said Cutone.

George Chambers retired as president of UPG on Dec. 31 after serving for 16 years in the position. Norman Scanlon, vice president for academic affairs at UPG, has been serving as interim president.
