Bicycle lockers available for rent

Warmer weather soon will bring an increase in bicycle and motorcycle traffic to Pitt. Parking for both vehicles is available at various locations around campus, according to the Department of Parking and Transportation.

Motorcycle parking cost $20 a semester. Motorists with a valid daily parking permit also can pick up a motorcycle permit from the Parking Office for the current semester at no extra charge.

"When you purchase a permit, our staff will provide you with a map showing you the different places designated for motorcycle parking on campus," Parking and Transportation Director Bob Harkins said.

New bicycle lockers were installed on campus in January and several are still available for rent. They are located on the patio of Litchfield Towers and outside of Forbes Quadrangle.

The rental for the remainder of the spring term is $20, plus a $10 key deposit. Lockers can be renewed for the next term.

Lockers are for the storage of bicycles and related equipment such as helmets and saddle bags, nothing else, according to Harkins. The University also is not liable for the theft or damage of a bicycle or other personal property while stored in a locker.

For information on motorcycle or bicycle parking, contact Pitt Ridesharing at 624-0687.
