UPT joins athletic conference

Pitt's Titusville campus (UPT) will join the Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference (WPCC) for the 1997-98 athletic season, Peter Jerebko, UPT athletics director, announced. UPT restored its intercollegiate sports program last year after an eight-year hiatus. It fielded a men's basketball team and a women's volleyball team.

WPCC currently sponsors league competition in seven sports. UPT was able to join the conference after Pitt's Greensburg campus and Mt. Aloysius College announced that they will withdraw from the conference at the end of this season to compete in a higher conference.

Next year, UPT will compete against Butler Community College, Community College of Allegheny County's Allegheny, Boyce, South and North campuses, Beaver County Community College, Westmoreland Community College, and Penn State's Altoona, Dubois, Beaver and New Kensington campuses.
