Bradford campus names VP for Business

Linda Hendy, executive director of auxiliary operations at Utah State University, has been named vice president of Business Affairs at Pitt's Bradford campus (UPB). She will assume her post July 10.

At UPB, Hendy will be responsible for managing the bookstore, food services, housing, student center financial operations, the University Inn, and UPB's licensing and trademark program.

"We are impressed with Linda's diverse experience in business affairs," UPB President Richard McDowell said. "She is someone who has worked in a variety of capacities in higher education, so she has a keen understanding of all levels of operation through practical, hands-on experience." Hendy's duties at Utah State included management of revenue bond and capital building projects, including new family housing, single student housing and an expansion of the school's student center.

"Her recent capital projects experience ties in well with Pitt-Bradford since we're planning an expansion to our student union, the Frame-Westerberg Commons, over the next two years," McDowell said.

Hendy holds B.S. degrees in psychology and communication from the University of Illinois and a Master's of Business Administration in finance from the University of Tennessee.

Prior to joining the Utah State staff in 1994, Hendy worked in various business positions, including assistant vice chancellor for auxiliary operations, director of audit and director of management services at the University of Tennessee for 10 years.

"I am truly excited about the opportunity that comes with this appointment," Hendy said. "Pitt-Bradford's positioning as an exceptional small, public liberal arts school is excellent and at the leading edge in today's changing environment in higher education. More and more students will be in the market for this type of institution for their undergraduate experience." Professional groups to which Hendy belongs include the National Association of College and University Business Officers, the National Association of College and University Food Services, the National Association of College Stores, and the National Association of College Auxiliary Services.
