Teaching orientation scheduled

The Center for Instructional Development and Distance Education and the Office of the Provost will sponsor an orientation for incoming teachers Aug. 25 and 26. The orientation will include more than 20 sessions on topics such as evaluating and responding to student writing; course and syllabus design; questioning as a teaching strategy; helping students with disabilities; documenting one's teaching; computing, and libraries.

Aug. 25 sessions are open only to faculty. The sessions will run from 11:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. in the Frick Fine Arts Building.

Aug. 26 sessions, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. in Forbes Quadrangle, are open to the Pitt community. Attendance is required for Faculty of Arts and Sciences teaching assistants and teaching fellows, unless their departments have made other arrangements.
