Emergency medicine endows new chair

The Department of Emergency Medicine at the School of Medicine has established the Ronald D. Stewart Endowed Chair in Emergency Medicine Research. Stewart is professor and director of medical humanities at Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia. A faculty member here from 1978 to 1987, Stewart is being honored for establishing the Center for Emergency Medicine of Western Pennsylvania, and the affiliated residency in emergency medicine at Pitt.

Emergency medicine invested $2 million for the chair, which will be awarded to a faculty member within the department.
