Pitt's freshman class at a glance

The Office of Admissions and Financial Aid provides a snapshot of the Pittsburgh campus 2006 freshman class.

• Number of applications: 18,195

• Number admitted: 10,160

• Number enrolled: 3,420

Geographic breakdown of enrolled freshmen:

• Allegheny County residents: 19 percent

• Pennsylvania residents (including Allegheny County): 75 percent

• Out-of-state residents: 25 percent

Range of SAT scores:

Middle 50 percent of admitted students’ SAT range 1160-1340 (The ranges represent the middle 50 percent of students offered admission for fall 2006.)

In addition, Betsy Porter, director of Admissions and Financial Aid, reported that:

• 10 percent of the enrolled freshmen are African Americans; 7 percent are members of other minority groups.

• 43 percent of the class were in the top 10 percent of their high school class.
