PEOPLE OF THE TIMES

The Pittsburgh chapter of the International Association of Administrative Professionals announced that two Pitt staff members were elected to its 2007-08 board of directors.

Michele Aldrich, public relations assistant in the Office of Institutional Advancement, was elected vice president of the chapter and Jodie Johnson, assistant to the vice chancellor in Institutional Advancement, was elected secretary of the chapter.

Joan M. Lakoski, associate vice chancellor for academic career development in the Health Sciences, received the University of Pittsburgh Postdoctoral Association Postdoctoral Advocate Award in recognition of the ongoing support she provides this organization as founding and executive director of the Office of Academic Career Development.

Also recognized was Steven K. Wendell, research assistant professor in the School of Dental Medicine, who received the Postdoctoral Alumni Award for his role as a founding member and previous executive board member of the group.

Ronald D. Stall has been appointed as chair of behavioral and community health sciences in the Graduate School of Public Health (GSPH) effective July 1.

Stall joined GSPH from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, where he served as chief of the prevention research branch of the Division of HIV/AIDS Prevention, 2000-05.

Law professor Lawrence Frolik has been named a National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys fellow.

One of only 68 fellows named in the 19-year history of the group, which has more than 5,000 members, Frolik’s election honored his “exceptional contributions to meeting the needs of older Americans.”

Kim Coley, associate professor of pharmacy and therapeutics at the School of Pharmacy, will serve as a panelist for the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists Research and Education Foundation’s 2007 pharmacy practice research award.

This award recognizes individuals who have made important contributions to the literature of pharmacy practice in hospitals and health systems.
