2% pay hikes to be awarded for satisfactory performance

Pitt employees will be seeing a bit more green in their September paychecks, but not all will realize an increase in buying power.

Chancellor Mark A. Nordenberg on Wednesday announced that the 3.5 percent salary pool increase allocated in Pitt’s fiscal year 2008 budget will be distributed as follows:

— 2 percent for salary maintenance for employees with satisfactory work performance;

— 1 percent for merit, market and equity adjustments;

— 0.5 percent for market imbalances.

The overall salary pool exceeded the inflation rate of 2.5 percent, though the maintenance component did not.
