Mechanicsburg program to host exhibit

Social work’s Mechanicsburg child welfare training program wants to raise awareness about child adoption by hosting a traveling photo exhibition portraying children in need of adoptive homes.

The Pennsylvania Heart Gallery, a project of the Statewide Adoption and Permanency Network, is a series of professional portraits featuring foster children awaiting adoption in Pennsylvania.

The exhibition will be on display from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 1-5 in the program’s Mechanicsburg offices.

The Pennsylvania Heart Gallery is on its second statewide tour. Of the 50 children included in the first exhibition, half have been placed in adoptive homes. There currently are more than 20,000 children living in foster care throughout Pennsylvania; 3,300 of them are waiting to be adopted.

More information on the exhibit is available online at www.adoptpakids.org.
