Steam line installation continues to disrupt traffic

Road closings on Darragh Street near Salk Hall are coming to an end. The road will remain closed between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. today and Friday as work continues on the installation of a new steam line near Salk Hall.

Starting Monday, the excavation work will shift to Terrace Street. One lane will be closed on Terrace Street west of Darragh Street Monday through Friday 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m. for approximately four weeks.

During the excavation, traffic signals temporarily will be removed and the intersection of Terrace and Darragh will become a four-way stop with flaggers assisting drivers near the entrance to Montefiore Hospital, said Chris Niemann of Facilities Management.

Restoration of the excavated area has begun near Trees Hall and is expected to continue through May.
