JURIST seeks Webby Award votes

Pitt law school’s JURIST, which bills itself as the world’s only web-based, student-powered legal news source, has been nominated for a Webby Award.

The New York Times dubbed the Webby Award “the online equivalent of an Oscar.”

JURIST (www.jurist.law.pitt.edu) is run by professor Bernard Hibbitts, executive director Jeannie Shawl and a staff of some 40 law students.

By virtue of its nomination, JURIST is in the running for two awards: the Judges’ Award and the People’s Voice Award. The latter award, which JURIST won in 2006, is decided by online popular vote.

The public is invited to vote by following these steps:

• Go to http://pv.webbyawards.com/account/signup and register to vote;

• Once you register, an activation code will be sent to your email (check to make sure it’s not misdirected to spam/virus email filtering folder);

• Log on to http://pv.webbyawards.com/ and click on “Website: Vote now”;

• Scroll down to “Society” and click on the “Law” category;

• Vote for JURIST.

The poll closes May 1; winners will be announced May 6.
