Alzheimer research proposals sought

The Alzheimer Disease Research Center (ADRC) seed monies grant program is seeking proposals for pilot grants to stimulate new research relevant to Alzheimer’s disease.

Proposals can range from basic to psychosocial science in methodology, with priority given to novel approaches. Proposed research may involve humans, other animals or in vitro studies. The patient registry, clinical and neuro-pathological databases of ADRC are available resources for approved proposals.

The funding period for the grants is April 1, 2009-March 31, 2010, with $28,548 in direct costs available per project. The application deadline is Dec. 1.

Full-time faculty and post-doctoral fellows at Pitt are eligible; previous recipients of ADRC seed monies are not eligible.

A brief description of the proposed pilot study should be emailed as soon as possible to Leslie Dunn, ADRC administrator, at dunnlo@upmc.edu. For more information, call Dunn at 412/692-2731.
