Be prepared for MyFunding outage between July 21 and 30

The MyFunding upgrade will take place from 5:30 p.m. July 21 through July 30. The site will be available for all users again at 8:30 a.m. July 31.

Plan to complete proposal submissions, award activations, award modifications, and any other MyFunding requests prior to this downtime. Because MyFunding is the University’s legal file of record for sponsored program transactions, the Office of Sponsored Programs must limit processing any requests that would normally be done through MyFunding to only those that are urgent and necessary.

All proposals with sponsor deadlines falling between July 22 and 30 should be routed to the Office of Sponsored Programs for review and submission, including PI certification, by July 18.

If an investigator requires more time to finish the technical portions of the proposal, OSP will accept funding proposals that have completed and finalized administrative components (budget, compliance and PI certification) with incomplete technical/scientific pieces (such as specific aims, research plan) prior to the MyFunding downtime. OSP can then submit the final proposal through the sponsor’s system during the MyFunding downtime. If you require this exception, please alert OSP at osp@pitt.edu by July 18.

Urgent sponsor-initiated requests received during the downtime and due during the downtime will continue to be processed. Requests for OSP to process these items via email should be submitted to both Jennifer Woodward, vice chancellor for sponsored programs and research operations, at jew7@pitt.edu and Laura Kingsley, OSP director, at laura.kingsley@pitt.edu. The PI and any required department and school approvers should also be copied on the urgent request email.

To ensure compliance with effort reporting requirements, awards with project start dates prior to May 1, 2023, need to be activated in MyFunding before the downtime. The effort certification period will not be extended due to the downtime. See the related communication from Financial Compliance for Research.

MyRA and Contraxx will be unaffected during the MyFunding downtime, and requests submitted through these systems will still be processed by OSP as usual.

Please contact your OSP specialist to discuss proposal or award activities during this downtime. If you have any questions regarding the upgrade or the PERIS project, please contact Natalie Kaczmarek at nem44@pitt.edu or the PERIS team at peristeam@pitt.edu.
