National Take Your Child to Work Day is scheduled for Thursday, April 23.
Allowing employees and their children to participate in Take Your Child to Work Day activities is decided at the department level, according to a memo from the Office of Human Resources.
At University-hosted events, if participating children remain with their parent at all times (shadowing), then there is no need for Child Protection Clearances.
If, however, there will be any breakout groups or activities where the parent is not with their child, then the individuals running the activities must have Child Protection Clearances and the program must be registered with the University as a Pitt-affiliated program.
If needed, here are the required steps for registering a University-affiliated program involving minors on campus:

Identify all employees and volunteers who will have direct contact with children (under the age of 18) at the department’s event.

Download, complete and sign the RC certification form for programs Involving minors on campus (your responsibility center administrator also will need to sign off on this form).

Submit the materials above through the University's Child Protection Hub at least three weeks before the program’s start date.
To allow proper time for clearances to be obtained, the registration, including the RC certification form and roster of adults participating in the event, should be submitted no later than April 2. Any photos from the day’s events are required to have all participants fill out this release and waiver of liability form, which should be kept on file by the sponsoring department. Each parent or guardian should fill out a release for themselves and their participating minor child.
