A second group of faculty is being sought to become early adopters and teach a course with Canvas during the spring 2020 term.
In September, Adam Hobaugh, director of support services in Computing Services and Systems Development, said 80 faculty members were using Canvas in 119 courses involving 3,500 students, spanning most colleges on the Pittsburgh campus as well as all the regional campuses. Pitt will fully transition to Canvas by the summer 2020 term.
Applications for the next group of early adopters will close on Oct. 25 and those accepted will be notified by Nov. 1. Opportunities are limited and spots will fill quickly.
Implementation resources from Canvas will be available to support early access participants throughout their course transition, as will the services of the University Center for Teaching and Learning’s LMS consulting team and the CSSD help desk. While every effort will be made to migrate existing content from Blackboard to Canvas, teaching with Canvas in the spring will require faculty to invest time validating content and learning the new system. Training opportunities will be offered, as will one-on-one support.
