Forbes ranks Pitt 27th for Best-In-State Employers

Forbes magazine has included Pitt is in list of America's Best-In-State Employers for 2023, among companies with 500 or more employees.

Forbes partnered with market research firm Statista to survey 70,000 workers in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Participants were asked if they would recommend their employer to others, and to evaluate their employer based on working conditions, diversity, compensation packages, potential for development, company image and more.

Participants also were prompted to evaluate employers in their state that stand out either positively or negatively.

A total of 1,392 organizations made the list. Of those, 1,123 companies are ranked in one state only. A total of 269 are ranked in more than one state, such as Amtrak, Cardinal Health and Wegman’s, which were the top three on the Pennsylvania list.

Pitt ranked 27th out of 97 businesses on the Pennsylvania list. UPMC was ranked 97th. Penn State came in at 61st, while the University of Pennsylvania and Carnegie Mellon University ranked 10th and 11th, respectively.
