Get free help managing seasonal allergy medications

If you suffer from seasonal allergies and already take or are considering taking over-the-counter allergy medications, consider booking an appointment with a pharmacist through the Comprehensive Medication Management program.

During a personalized consultation, a pharmacist will help you navigate medications available for the prevention, treatment and management of seasonal allergy symptoms. Before recommending medications, pharmacists can assess if self-treatment is appropriate and can help screen OTC medications for potential drug-to-drug interactions.

Patients will be educated on potential adverse effects associated with these over-the-counter medications and provide information about non-drug measures that may alleviate allergy symptoms. The pharmacist also can help those with severe allergies that do not respond to over-the-counter medications seek further help from their doctor.

The Comprehensive Medication Management program is available at no cost to full- and part-time regular University faculty and staff with UPMC Health Plan coverage. In addition to understanding your medications better, the program can assist with pre-travel health consultations, tobacco cessation and diabetes prevention.

Due to COVID-19, all Comprehensive Medication Management consultations are being held remotely for the safety of patients and staff. To schedule an appointment with a pharmacist, call 412-383-MEDS (6337) or email mymeds@pitt.edu. You also  can book an appointment online.
