Green Speakeasy Series: An Earth Month teach-In

Seven Pittsburgh women who are advancing sustainability will be featured in an Earth Month teach-in April 13 on “Leveraging Research to Inform Calls to Action.”

The event, part of the Green Speakeasy Series, will be hosted by Melissa Bilec of Pitt’s Mascaro Center for Sustainable Innovation. Other participants include:

  • Jessica Burke, professor in the Graduate School of Public Health

  • Emily Elliott, professor of Geology & Environmental Science and director and co-founder of the Pittsburgh Collaboratory for Water Research, Education, and Outreach 

  • Shannah Gilliam, director of the Homewood Children’s Village and member of the ALCOSAN Board of Directors 

  • Mary Ohmer, associate professor of Social Work

  • Carla Ng, assistant professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering

  • Kay Shimizu, research assistant professor, Department of Political Science
