Hoopla and Friends & Family Day bring fans to women's basketball games

Pitt women’s basketball games were the place to be earlier this month.

On Jan. 13, Chancellor Patrick Gallagher welcomes more than 2,500 at the fourth-annual Chancellor’s Friends and Family Day for the Pitt-Boston College game at Petersen Events Center.

During a halftime ceremony, former Pitt star Lorri Johnson became the first player in the history of the women’s program to have her jersey retired.

On Jan. 17, more than 200 signed up for the annual Hoopla! event, which promotes the advancement of Pitt women by highlighting women leaders and promoting cross-campus networking between faculty and staff members.

Before the game against Syracuse, those attending heard from the women’s team’s new head coach, Lance White, and mingled over a buffet dinner.
