Lecture spotlight: The State of Forced Migration in the Americas

Border to Border: The State of Forced Migration in the Americas
3-5 p.m. Feb. 29, 4130 Posvar Hall

This talk, sponsored by the Center for Latin American Studies, will discuss and analyze migration across the Americas, such as the region of “El Darien,” a 60-mile gap between Panama and Colombia, one of the world’s most dangerous migration routes, the USA/Mexico border, the border of Venezuela with neighboring countries, as well as other major migration routes in the Americas. The talk will examine how the world sees this region, how it compares to other migration routes from around the world, misconceptions about who travels across these borders, and the impact of forced migration on countries in the region.
