Pitt-owned College Garden Apartments open to faculty and staff

College Garden Apartments, located at Walnut and Elwood streets in Shadyside, is listed with all the other student housing on Panther Central, but it has the distinction of also being available for faculty, staff and postdocs to rent.

Kichen stove and sinkThe one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments have been available to faculty and staff for a number of years, according to Michael Barker, leasing coordinator with Pitt’s Business and Auxiliary Services, which took over management of the complex four years ago. Currently, seven tenants are faculty or staff and five are postdocs.

College Garden Apartments are comprised of six buildings with 76 total units. Many of the units are recently renovated with new appliances and flooring. The six buildings, each with four apartments per floor, are a short bus ride from campus and have the option of garage parking.

Rents for 2021-22 currently range from $890 to $1,090 monthly for one bedroom to $1,595 to $1,800 for three bedrooms.
