SCI, provost’s office plan Data Science Day for April 19

The School of Computing and Information (SCI) and the Office of the Provost will hold a Data Science Day from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 19 at the University Club, Ballroom A.

Alfred Spector, a visiting scholar at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and senior advisor at the investment firm Blackstone, will give the keynote address at 9:45 a.m. on “Beyond Models: Applying Data Science and AI Effectively.”

A panel discussion will follow at 11 a.m. on “Responsible Uses of Data Science in the Workforce: Industry Perspectives.”

The final session is a SheLeads Panel Discussion on “Women in Data Science: Challenges, Opportunities and Empowerment” at 12:30 p.m., moderated by Audrey Russo, president and CEO of Pittsburgh Technology Council. The panel includes a student and a professor from SCI, along with other women working in data analytics at Pitt.
