Staff Council gives out Frisch and Book Fund awards

Staff Council has announced the recipients for the Staff Professional Development Award in honor of Ronald W. Frisch and the Staff Council Book Fund Award.

The Frisch award provides monetary resources to selected Pitt staff members to pursue professional enrichment opportunities. Recipients this year are:

  • Lorraine M. Pollini, Division of Infectious Diseases, Department of Medicine, who will pursue a certification with the Board of Editors in the Life Science.

  • Brooke J. Riley, Pitt Police Department, who will pursue classes from FBI-LEEDA's Ethics and Supervisor Liability Online Distance Program. 

The Staff Council Book Fund Award, established in 2001 and made possible through donations from University staff members, are given to qualified undergraduate students enrolled at any of Pitt’s campuses and whose parent or guardian is a Pitt staff member. The money can be used toward the purchase of books or supplies. The recipients are:  

  • Olivia Shea, a respiratory therapist student at Pitt–Johnstown

  • David Puccio, a chemistry student at the Oakland campus
