Three Nationality Rooms slated for renovations

Korean Room

Three of the 31 Nationality Rooms in the Cathedral of Learning will undergo renovations this spring and summer, according to Scott Bernotas, vice chancellor for facilities management.

  • Japanese Room: Due to a sprinkler line break which occurred during winter storms in 2022, the room’s flooring will be replaced (both the wood and concrete mortar floors). Replacement of some window panels, wallpaper and minor painting also will be completed at this time. Work is expected to be completed by the end of summer.

  • African Heritage Room: A leak on the fourth floor roof was recently fixed. Interior work includes some plaster work in the northwest corner of the space, which is expected to be completed at the end of semester.

  • Korean Room: The floorboards are starting to cup. We are working to confirm the source and will then develop a timeline to complete this repair.
