Weather shines for annual faculty and staff picnic

Faculty and staff crowded the street in front of Hillman Library and Posvar Hall for the Chancellor's Staff and Faculty Appreciation Picnic on a sunny, warm May 11 afternoon.

Chancellor Patrick Gallagher could be seen greeting picnic guests throughout the event, which he has hosted several years. The picnic took a hiatus during the pandemic in 2020 and 2021, but came back strong last year.

The event featured a free lunch buffet, along with Dippin’ Dots and popcorn. Games were scattered along Posvar plaza and groups and individuals could get their picture taken with the Pitt script logo.

Tables lined Schenley Drive and Posvar Plaza with most of them full throughout the noon to 2 p.m. event as a DJ played music for the crowd. The line for food often reached back to the entrance of the Posvar garage.

A variety of campus units contributed door prizes that were announced throughout the afternoon. Staff and faculty also could pick up a free Pitt tote bag or water bottle, while supplies lasted.
