Aleksandr Veledinskii’s The Geographer Drank His Globe Away is his third feature-length film and is based on Aleksandr Ivanov’s 1995 novel of the same title.
The film tells the story of a middle-aged man, Viktor Sluzhkin (Konstantin Khabesnkii), who used to be a researcher in the field of biology, but now teaches geography in a high school in his hometown of Perm’ (an industrial city in the Ural region) to support his family.
