In the June 23 University Times, part of Provost James Maher’s description of damage done to the MV Explorer was mischaracterized. The provost said the ship suffered dramatic damage to the hull; there was a distorted section 30 feet high and 15 feet wide, he added.

Also, the faculty advisory committee reviewing the Semester at Sea academic program was formed, not chaired, by Dean N. John Cooper and William Brustein, director of UCIS.

Provost Maher said that the University would certify credits on three SAS voyages, but would not be delivering the instruction since Pitt faculty would be sailing as private contractors.
