UCIS sets up grant program

Pitt's University Center for International Studies (UCIS) has established an International Studies Fund (ISF) grant program to help Pitt students who want to conduct research on international issues or present their research in international settings.

"For these grants, we are defining 'international' as relating to another country or culture, comparative analysis covering more than one country or culture, studies of international relations or of transnational activities, or studies that examine topics related to global issues," said UCIS Director William Brustein.

All full-time graduate and undergraduate students at Pitt are eligible to apply for ISF grants, which will range from $500 to $1,000. Grants will be awarded twice a year, with submission deadlines of Feb. 28 and Sept. 15.

Grants awarded in the spring must be used by June 30 of the next calendar year. Those awarded in the fall must be used by Dec. 31 of the next calendar year.

An ISF application form and a short proposal must be submitted to initiate the review process. The application form is available on the UCIS Web site: www.ucis.edu/isf. Applications also may be obtained through the UCIS office, 4G Posvar Hall.

Each grant recipient must submit a final report explaining how the funds were used and outcomes of the supported activity, within one month of completing the activity.
