PEOPLE OF THE TIMES

Robert Perloff, professor emeritus in the Katz Graduate School of Business, has received the Year 2000 American Psychological Foundation Gold Medal Award for Life Achievement in Psychology in the Public Interest.

Two Pitt faculty members have been named winners of the 2000 Trailblazer Award by Renaissance Publications. The awards honor African Americans who have made significant contributions in their respective fields and opened doors once closed to African Americans. The awards will be presented March 25 at Carnegie Music Hall.

Velma P. Scantlebury, associate professor of surgery, will receive the Torch Carrier Award in Medicine.

Grady Roberts, assistant dean in the School of Social Work, will receive the Torch Lighter Award in Higher Education.

Eight other community leaders also will be recognized at the March ceremony.
