Orientation set for new TAs/TFs

Approximately 60 new TAs and TFs are expected to attend the New TA/TF Orientation Program on Jan. 10 (snow date: Jan. 14) in 2M56 Forbes Quad.

The event will include welcoming remarks, workshops and brief presentations by representatives of the Writing Center, Disability Resources & Services, the Counseling Center and Learning Skills Center introducing "Services for Students About Which TA/TFs Should Know." Workshops will include "Creating a Classroom Environment," "Teaching Portfolios," "Developing Student Writing in the Humanities," "Teaching in Labs" and "Promoting Academic Integrity." The program is free and open to all members of the University community. With few exceptions, attendance is mandatory for FAS TA/TFs who will be teaching for the first time this spring.

TA/TFs who will not be teaching until fall term should attend the fall New TA Orientation, scheduled for August.
