Historic nomination of 2 buildings withdrawn

The quest to designate Pennsylvania Hall and the Mineral Industries Building as historic structures has ended.

In the wake of last month's vote by the Pittsburgh Historic Review Commission denying historic status for the two buildings, Pittsburgh residents John Murdock and J. R. Daniel have withdrawn their nomination of the buildings.

The City Planning Commission and City Council still had to meet on the issue and could have disregarded the Historic Review Commission's ruling and voted in favor of a historic designation.

Jay Roling, Pitt's director of Local Relations, said he was informed of the withdrawal by Michael Eversmeyer, chief of staff of the Historic Review Commission.
