UPG, UPJ staffers win campus president's awards

Two regional campuses have announced the winners of annual staff awards.

Michele Shuey, an academic adviser in the Office of Academic Affairs at Pitt-Greensburg, has won UPG’s President’s Distinguished Service Award for Staff.

The purpose of the UPG award is to recognize regular staff who have demonstrated a consistent pattern of extraordinary dedication to the University, above and beyond the staff member’s job responsibilities. The award carries a $500 prize.

According to one of her nomination letters, “Ms. Shuey deserves recognition for her willingness to take on extra responsibilities to meet the needs of the campus. She has also been successful in finding innovative ways to improve the work of academic advising. A special strength is her ability to collaborate with other departments and individuals on campus.”

Shuey received her associate’s degree in university studies from Allegany Community College (Maryland), her bachelor’s degree in education and her master’s degree in geography and regional planning from California University of Pennsylvania.
