Free services available to persons whose spouses have Alzheimer's diseases
People whose spouses have Alzheimer's disease may be eligible for free services through a Pitt research program that begins May 1.
Participants receive a personalized program of support and training over a nine-month period, including three months of weekly visits by trained program staff, one three-hour intervention workshop with other caregiving spouses, and in-home interviews.
There is no charge for the program and participants receive no payment. For information, call 624-5531.
The program, offered through the University Center for Social and Urban Research, is funded by the National Institute on Aging and is in its fourth year of a five-year study to assess the effectiveness of various Alzheimer treatment approaches.
