Blocked Forbes sidewalk near Towers joins list of closures

The Forbes Avenue sidewalk adjacent to Litchfield Towers will be fully closed through Feb. 4 and partially closed for nine weeks following that for construction of a new entrance to The Eatery.

Pedestrians can cross at Bouquet Street or the Lawrence Hall-Schenley Quad crosswalk, or use the pedestrian bridge.

Additional sidewalk closures remain in place on Forbes Avenue around Hillman Library, as the final phase of the library’s reinvention is completed. The sidewalk adjacent to the library on Forbes and Schenley Drive will be closed through the spring semester. In addition, the walkway that runs between Hillman and Posvar Hall is only open on the side closest to Posvar.

There are several other sidewalk closures on and around the Oakland campus:

  • O’Hara Street next to the Recreation and Wellness Center construction site from Thackeray Street to N. Bouquet Street.

  • DeSoto Street and Fifth Avenue next to the construction site for a new UPMC hospital in front of Presbyterian Hospital.

  • A short section of sidewalk and steps behind Heinz Memorial Chapel leading to S. Bellefield Avenue across from Winthrop Street.

Track updates and associated construction impacts on Pitt’s Mobility website. Plans are subject to change based on conditions.
