As the University plans to expand the migration from Box to OneDrive to the broader Pitt community early this fall, according to an email from Chief Information Officer Mark Henderson and Rob Rutenbar, senior vice chancellor for Research.
The time it takes to complete each migration depends upon how much data and how many files are stored in Box. All Box users can complete these action items now to help ensure an efficient migration later:
-
Delete any unnecessary Box files and folders and empty your Box Trash folder.
-
Remove yourself from any shared Box folders or files to which you no longer need access.
-
Review and organize your Box folders, since your files will be migrated to OneDrive as they are organized in Box.
-
Transfer folder ownership as necessary.
-
Do not begin any new workflows or processes that utilize Box.
