Clyde Pickett will take over as Year of Discourse co-chair

Clyde Wilson Pickett, vice chancellor for equity, diversity, and inclusion, will replace Kenyon Bonner as co-chair of the Year of Discourse and Dialogue starting Jan. 1, interim Provost Joe McCarthy said in an announcement.

Bonner, vice provost of student affairs, is leaving to become vice president and chief student affairs officer at the University of Virginia as of Jan. 16.

Pickett will head the “Year of” committee with Carissa Slotterback, dean of the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs.

“I believe that Clyde’s role at Pitt positions him to apply his deep experience, vision and enthusiastic leadership to this initiative in unique and transformative ways — and I am so appreciative of his willingness to do so,” McCarthy said.

The first deadline for project proposals was Dec. 1. The second deadline is Feb. 1, 2024, with these proposals accepted starting Jan. 1. Learn more on the Year of Discourse and Dialogue website
