The 2026 Day of Caring will take place Friday, Oct. 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at locations throughout Pittsburgh. Pitt’s Neighborhood Commitments organization invites Pitt faculty and staff to join in for a day of giving back and engaging with community partners who would benefit from extra help. 

Lunch is provided. 

Pitt staff members are eligible to receive paid time off each month to participate in community service or volunteer activities. Full-time regular staff members may use up to 7.5 hours during regular working hours per month; part-time regular staff members are eligible for prorated volunteer time. 

Focused on the Oakland, Homewood, Hill District and Greater Hazelwood neighborhoods, Pitt’s Neighborhood Commitments serves the University’s flagship place-based community partnerships. The commitments are intended to provide long-term commitments of staffing, infrastructure, and coordination to facilitate mutually beneficial collaborations between Pitt and local communities.
