A lecture and panel discussion on Oct. 28 featuring Zealan Hoover, head advisor to the EPA, will focus on “Shifting from Climate Anxiety to Climate Optimism.”

The event, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the University Club Ballroom, will explore how science, technology and human creativity offer hope in the fight against the climate crisis while underscoring the continuing need for collective action that drives meaningful, long-term change.

It is part of the Mascaro Center for Sustainable Innovation Heinz Distinguished Lecture Series.

Other panelists include: Nicole Heller, associate curator, Anthropocene Studies, Carnegie Museum of Natural History; Tomas Matza, director of graduate studies and associate professor, Department of Anthropology; and Ruth Mostern, professor, Department of History.

Light refreshments will be served and there will be time for Q&A and networking after the panel discussion. Students, faculty and staff are asked to RSVP.
