Provost names digital education interim associate provost

Audra Longert, who has held senior roles with both FutureLearn and edX, joined Pitt Jan. 9 as interim associate provost for digital education and teaching innovation, according to announcement from Provost Ann Cudd.

The move was made to meet the “current, urgent need to advance online education at Pitt strategically and efficiently. Audra will help us build momentum in online education and better coordinate the University’s approach,” Cudd’s message said.

The provost also said a national search will be conducted for a permanent associate provost for digital education and teaching innovation, who will lead the University’s efforts in online education and also lead the University Center for Teaching and Learning.

Until that person is in place, Mike Bridges will continue in his current role as interim executive director of the teaching center. Bridges succeeded Cynthia Golden, who stepped down as head of the Teaching Center in June 2022.
