School of Education recognizes faculty, staff and students with awards

The School of Education recently presented its inaugural Dean’s Distinguished Awards. The dean’s awards will be given annually to recognize the exemplary achievements and outstanding contributions of our students, faculty and staff.

An awards committee selected the winners from more than 100 nominations.

Distinguished Research Award: Gina Garcia, associate professor

Distinguished Service Award: Xhey Dawkins-Law Evans-El (Ph.D. student)

Distinguished Community Engagement/Research Practice Partnership Award: Esohe Osai, assistant professor of practice

Distinguished Undergraduate Student Award: Rachael Stowe

Distinguished Graduate Student Award: Aizat Nurshatayeva (2020 Ph.D. graduate) and Christopher Darby (current Ph.D. student)

Distinguished Teaching Award: Kari Kokka, assistant professor

Distinguished Mentoring Award: Amanda Godley, professor and vice provost for Graduate Studies, and Leigh Patel, professor

Distinguished Staff Award: Thomas Bost, director of grants, and Shelly Kinsel, admissions and enrollment coordinator
