One of the amazing things about Pitt staff is that they are multifaceted, not only in their daily work, but far beyond the borders of campus.

Staff are seasoned professionals, experts in their fields, and they dedicate themselves to improving our communities. They serve in leadership roles for their alma mater, professional associations and nonprofits throughout the region and around the globe. They have been recognized at the local and national levels for their creativity, dedication, and innovation, and often, supervisors and colleagues are unaware of the impact they make beyond their daily work.

Staff Council is spearheading an effort to recognize, elevate and celebrate the accomplishments of Pitt staff in the areas of professional achievement, service and leadership, in addition to University-bestowed recognitions.

We want to hear from you so that we can celebrate with you and amplify your successes and your service!

Staff Council has created two quick and easy forms to help you share your news:

• Group Accolade Form (accomplishment including two or more people)

• Individual Accolade Form (personal, individual accomplishment)

Upon submission, your news will also be shared with the Pittwire and the University Times teams for publication consideration as well. Staff Council will also share submitted accolades with the Office of the Chancellor.

Our new Accolades site provides a hub for submission information and highlights recent accolades submitted by staff.

For Pitt bestowed accolades, please forward the official announcement from the department or unit to sc@pitt.edu and tag Staff Council on your social posts.

What makes a great accolade?

• External accolades include, but are not limited to, board of directors service appointments, honors, awards, recognitions, volunteer leadership roles, etc.

• Accolades should have a publicly linked article, website or announcement

• Submissions are for accomplishments/accolades bestowed by a non-Pitt entity

Please note that publication and amplification are at the discretion of Pittwire, University Times, Staff Council, or the Office of the Chancellor.

Staff Council serves as a center for input and dissemination of information, provides a means of communication between staff and other members of the Pitt community, and provides opportunities for professional development.  

Staff Council has historically represented the interests of Pitt staff not covered under a collective bargaining agreement and continues to participate in shared governance on campus to advocate for the interests of staff members on issues not addressed by collective bargaining. Additionally, the Council continues its mission to advocate for unrepresented staff members.
