Two finalists for dental school dean will give public talks

The School of Dental Medicine dean search committee will host talks by two finalists at noon July 31 and Aug. 3 in 456 Salk Hall and available via Zoom.

Bernard Costello moved from dean to associate vice chancellor for the Office of Interdisciplinary Education, Health Sciences, in September 2022, and Marnie Oakley has been serving as interim dean since then. A search was launched in fall 2022, chaired Anthony Delitto, dean of the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences.

Oakley is one of the finalists for the dean position and will present a talk titled “The Future of Pitt Dental Medicine: Creating Limitless Opportunity Through Strong Collaboration” at noon July 31. The event will end with Q&A moderated by Anantha Shekhar, senior vice chancellor for the health sciences.

The other finalist is Andres Pinto, chair and professor, oral and maxillofacial medicine and diagnostic sciences, Case Western Reserve in Cleveland. His talk will be at noon Aug. 3. The topic has not been announced yet.

The sessions will not be recorded. Contact Joanna Spontak (j.spontak@pitt.edu) with questions or for additional information.
