At the final meeting of the 2017-18 academic year of Senate Council, members received an enrollment update from admissions' Marc Harding and Wesley Rohrer was presented with the University Senate Service Award.
Updates about undergraduate recruitment and enrollment and planning and budgeting committee surveys were reviewed by members of the Senate budget policies committee at its May 18 meeting.
Scott Kane, Derek Smith and Janine Fisher were named vice president and dean of student affairs, assistant vice chancellor of human resources and director of marketing and communications, respectively.
Staff Council's Spring Assembly was held on May 15. Keynote speaker Audrey Murrell highlighted her five keys to empowerment. Chancellor Patrick Gallagher also spoke at the event and the Ronald W. Frisch Staff Professional Development Award was presented.
The May 10 event gathered administrators, faculty and student leaders from the 14 Pitt schools with graduate and professional programs to listen to speakers and participate in small-group discussions focused on topics such as available resources for graduate students, mentoring programs and retention of students from underrepresented populations.
