Pitt employees who are subscribers to the UPMC Health Plan point-of-service self-referred option or comprehensive option must notify the UPMC customer service group of scheduled hospital admissions and certain scheduled outpatient surgical procedures prior to the procedures. For patients who fail to pre-notify, there is a $200 penalty.

An article in the Sept. 28 University Times did not include this detail.
