Grant to fund med students’ work in Bradford area

The medical school’s Department of Family Medicine, working in partnership with Pitt-Bradford’s Center for Rural Health Practice, has received a $1 million U.S. Department of Health and Human Services/Health Resources and Services Administration grant to bring medical students to the Bradford region.

Third- and fourth-year medical students from Pitt’s School of Medicine will serve four-week rotations, working with physician mentors. The grant also would enable students to return to Bradford for eight weeks during the summer to conduct public health research.

Physicians interested in mentoring students should call Youmasu J. Siewe, director of the Center for Rural Health Practice, at 814/362-5054.
