New book center opens

Remodeled and renamed, the University of Pittsburgh Book Center reopened July 15 as the University Store on Fifth following a yearlong renovation.

textbooksFollowing a year in a temporary home on Forbes Avenue while The Book Center space underwent $9.4 million in renovations, Pitt’s bookstore has returned to 4000 Fifth Avenue as The University Store on Fifth in time for the start of the fall term.

Textbooks and other course materials fill shelf after shelf on the modernized lower level, accessible via a skylight-topped staircase.

The store’s street level has undergone a transformation, emerging with amenities selected with input solicited from members of the University community.

cafeIn addition to popular books and magazines, The University Store on Fifth has expanded its selection of Pitt clothing and gifts, dorm supplies and other merchandise.
